A Fortunate Man

This translation of Henrik Pontoppidan's most famous novel, "Lykke-Per", in its second and authoritative 1905 version, is the work in progress of the Irish translator Paul Larkin, Dublin. The work has received financial support from the Danish Arts Council's Literature Committee. Chapter 1-7 are presented here in their present state.

An American translation, Lucky Per, by Naomi Lebowitz with an Afterword by the translator, was published in 2010 by Peter Lang (558 p. US$80,95). The novel, not the translation, has been the object of an article by the American scholar Fredrik Jameson i London Review of Books
